Data not collected

The short version: Cringe to Star doesn't collect, upload or share any of your data. Practice videos are recorded and kept only on your iPhone, and everything else stays on your device too.

This policy covers the iPhone app Cringe to Star and its Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, made by Neural Studio ("we").

Camera and microphone

The app asks for the camera and microphone only for the practice camera, where you record yourself talking to build confidence.

  • Practice videos are never uploaded, shared or posted by the app.
  • After each recording you choose what happens: by default the clip is deleted. If you tap "Keep it on this phone", it's saved inside the app on your iPhone only.
  • You can delete kept clips at any time in the app (More → My practice clips). Deleting the app deletes them too.
  • You can turn off camera or microphone access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security.

Data stored on your iPhone

To work, the app saves a small amount of information on your device only:

  • The name you choose, the character you picked, your confidence level and your journey progress.
  • The missions and habits you completed and when, used for streaks and the streak map.
  • Your "how cringe do you feel" ratings, minutes practiced and the number of posts you logged.
  • Your reminder settings.

This information is shared only between the app and its widgets on the same iPhone. It's included in your device backups like any other app data, and deleting the app removes it. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the morning and evening mission reminders are scheduled on your iPhone itself. No server is involved. You can change them in the app (More → Reminders) or turn them off in Settings → Notifications.

No data collection

The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no servers. It works without an internet connection. The app never posts to social networks for you — you always publish yourself, in the apps you already use. We do not collect, sell or share any personal information.

Feedback and ratings

If you choose to send feedback from inside the app, it opens your own email app with a draft addressed to us, including your rating, your message, the app version and your iOS version. Nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself. We use emails we receive only to reply and to improve the app.

The "Rate Cringe to Star" option uses Apple's built-in rating prompt; any rating or review you leave is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.

Children

The app doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
