The short version: Nerd Squirrel doesn't collect, upload or share any of your data. Your tasks, focus sessions and streaks stay on your iPhone.
This policy covers the iPhone app Nerd Squirrel, its Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets and its Live Activity, made by Neural Studio ("we").
Data stored on your iPhone
To work, the app saves a small amount of information on your device only:
- Your to-do list: task names, session estimates and which tasks you finished.
- Your focus sessions: when they ended, how long they were and whether you left the app during them, used for acorns, XP, streaks and the calendar.
- Your acorns, level, treehouse upgrades, timer settings, sound choices and reminder settings.
This information is shared only between the app and its widgets on the same iPhone. It's included in your device backups like any other app data, and deleting the app removes it. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.
Leaving the app during a session
To notice distractions, the app only checks when it goes to the background and when you come back. It does not see which other apps you use or what you do in them.
Sounds
Focus music is bundled inside the app and background noise is generated on your iPhone. Nothing is streamed, and the app never uses the microphone.
Notifications and Live Activity
If you allow notifications, the end-of-session alerts, the "come back" nudge and the daily reminder are all scheduled on your iPhone itself. No server is involved. The Lock Screen countdown is a Live Activity updated by the app on your device. You can change reminders in the app (Settings → Daily reminder) or turn notifications off in iOS Settings → Notifications.
No data collection
The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no servers. It works without an internet connection. We do not collect, sell or share any personal information.
Feedback and ratings
If you choose to send feedback from inside the app, it opens your own email app with a draft addressed to us, including your rating, your message, the app version and your iOS version. Nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself. We use emails we receive only to reply and to improve the app.
The "Rate Nerd Squirrel" option uses Apple's built-in rating prompt; any rating or review you leave is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
Children
The app doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
